Don't take our word for it. Read what some of our awesome Smashers say about training at CrossFit Smash!

Jane The crew at CrossFit Smash are dedicated to helping their members reach their personal goals safely and with confidence. I couldn't lift the 15kg bar when I started, I was lacking stability and was concerned about flaring up a back injury. Over two years later, I love making the morning sessions, my strength and ability have improved incredibly and most importantly, the beautiful community and their continued support have allowed me to let go of many hang ups I had about my body and how I look. I am strong and proud to be focused on the weight on the barbell going up, not the weight on the scales going down. I am happy, fit and in a community I love.

Cedric In 2016, after injuring my knee playing basketball, I had to have a full knee reconstruction. I thought I would never get back to the same level of fitness. Seven months later I re-joined CrossFit Smash. The coaches worked with my physio plan to ensure my knee could recover and regain its strength. They took me right back to basics, integrating movements as my knee and leg became stronger, but making sure I never pushed the limits during my recovery. The coaches provided various options so that I could participate in the workouts, and members provided encouragement every step of the way. Almost two years on, I am fitter and stronger than before. The dedication, attention and care shown by the coaches to all members is demonstrated daily.

Angela I was very nervous about trying CrossFit for the first time. I’d decided to go to an induction session at Smash and after that, try a class and see if I liked it. I was completely blown away by just how much I enjoyed it. I was welcomed and encouraged so much by the coach and members throughout the workout that by the end of the class, I’d decided to become a member there and then. That was over three years ago. I can say with certainty that in that time, Smash has changed my life. Earlier in 2018 I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. It was a devastating blow and simple things (like working out) suddenly became a challenge and early on, I felt like giving up. But the support and encouragement I’ve received has helped me to keep at it. Some days I have struggles due to my health issues and it’s pretty easy to use it as an excuse, but I know if I keep showing up, the coaches will make sure I’m safe, but still challenged. Even if there are days I need to slow down, they’ll help me keep moving, which is so important for my ongoing health. This place has taught me that it doesn’t matter your circumstances, you can still set and smash goals. I’m very grateful for that.

Luc After years of doing group fitness classes in big gyms and high intensity body weight programs at home, I was still overweight, moderately fit, with not much strength and frustrated with the lack of progress. I realised I needed to lift weights to build strength, but also wanted to increase my cardio fitness level. Big group fitness classes were not the answer and personal training was not an option as I wanted results fast, with directed training every day. When I turned up to my first session at CrossFit Smash I couldn’t do a single pull-up and had never touched a barbell. My first set of pull-ups had the coach cheering me on as he threw band after band over the bar to help me finish. It took months before those bands were no longer needed and I’m still surprised every time I get above that bar. The barbell was quite intimidating but the coaches at CrossFit Smash have been there at every step to make sure my technique is spot-on and have never let me load the bar heavier than I could safely lift. Getting that barbell from the ground to overhead is exhilarating. The thing about CrossFit Smash is that everyone, coaches and athletes, make you feel part of a community and genuinely want to help you to achieve results. And those results are addictive. I have so much fun I go six days a week.

Lizzie I was at a crossroads, continue to run marathons with the accompanying back injuries, or find something new. I needed to have a day without pain. I saw multiple doctors who gave me information about what was wrong, the end result: I needed to strengthen my core. While recovering I did a bit of research and came across a different type of gym. In a word, CrossFit Smash. The idea scared me but not as much as living with pain and doing nothing about it. I still remember my first introduction class. I felt nervous but excited. Having coaches show me proper technique and encouragement helped me get to a point where standing or sitting wasn't painful. The coaches are so great at seeing what works for each individual. So what started as recovery turned into a new way of life. CrossFit Smash is so much more than kettlebells or deadlifts. It's where you're not alone in your achievements, you're not alone with your doubts not even being in last place is lonely.
