Kellie aka Killer I started at CrossFit Smash because I wanted to get stronger to improve my swimming and running. I really did not love it immediately. I didn't like the idea of lifting heavy weights, I didn't want to look bulky and I was very bad at burpees. It took me about a month to get past all the angst and skepticism and then it just clicked and I loved it. I loved the measurability, the variation and the Saturday morning breakfasts. That was 2011 and I've been going five or six times a week ever since. I've used CrossFit as part of my training for long distance open water swims, mountaineering trips and running. The coaches have pushed me to do things I was afraid of doing before and helped me with specific training for my particular goals. The best part, though, is the friends I've made at CrossFit Smash. They are the best.

I started at CrossFit Smash because I wanted to get stronger to improve my swimming and running. I really did not love it immediately. The coaches have pushed me to do things I was afraid of doing before and helped me with specific training for my particular goals. The best part, though, is the friends I've made at CrossFit Smash. They are the best.

Jane The crew at CrossFit Smash are dedicated to helping their members reach their personal goals safely and with confidence. I couldn't lift the 15kg bar when I started, I was lacking stability and was concerned about flaring up a back injury. Over two years later, I love making the morning sessions, my strength and ability have improved incredibly and most importantly, the beautiful community and their continued support have allowed me to let go of many hang ups I had about my body and how I look. I am strong and proud to be focused on the weight on the barbell going up, not the weight on the scales going down. I am happy, fit and in a community I love.

Luc After years of doing group fitness classes in big gyms and high intensity body weight programs at home, I was still overweight, moderately fit, with not much strength and frustrated with the lack of progress. I realised I needed to lift weights to build strength, but also wanted to increase my cardio fitness level. Big group fitness classes were not the answer and personal training was not an option as I wanted results fast, with directed training every day. When I turned up to my first session at CrossFit Smash I couldn’t do a single pull-up and had never touched a barbell. My first set of pull-ups had the coach cheering me on as he threw band after band over the bar to help me finish. It took months before those bands were no longer needed and I’m still surprised every time I get above that bar. The barbell was quite intimidating but the coaches at CrossFit Smash have been there at every step to make sure my technique is spot-on and have never let me load the bar heavier than I could safely lift. Getting that barbell from the ground to overhead is exhilarating. The thing about CrossFit Smash is that everyone, coaches and athletes, make you feel part of a community and genuinely want to help you to achieve results. And those results are addictive. I have so much fun I go six days a week.
